Our School

I would like to welcome you to West Kidlington Primary School and Nursery. Please do take time to look at the web site; it will give you an insight into life at West Kidlington. I would strongly encourage that you organise a visit to the school. The feeling you get when you are in the building is very different to reading our online story. Our main expectations for the children, staff and families is very simple – be kind and give your best. If these two simple things are followed, then children will be happy and successful. The school’s effort over the last two years is now being reflected in significantly improved outcomes as we await to be inspected for the first time since becoming part of The White Horse Federation. We have overseen major changes to our curriculum and approaches to Teaching and Learning – here we are continuously reflecting on our ability to provide quality feedback, ask incisive questions and model to a very high standard. Our school building has been updated and provides a progressive feel to moving through the school. Our new outdoor area is a great feature in our two Reception classrooms and our state of the art Upper Key Stage 2 building provides children with a grown up education. We want our children so motivated and inspired that they create their own personal learning when they arrive home. When families ask what they learnt today – we want children highly engaged in conversation!

Targets for 2018/19:
– Introduce a new Character award for the children – building on resilience and resourcefulness
– Develop skills across all year groups in writing
– Continue to close the attainment gap of children with different starting points
– Embed key changes made to the school
– Ensure that all Teaching and Learning opportunities are taught with passion, personality and flexibility
– Enhance the school environment – building on exciting changes. Exciting environments enable exciting education!
