We
are a learning community. Our
school is a place where the children enjoy their learning, achieve and
strive
for excellence. We seek to promote a balance between equipping children
with
basic skills, technological understanding, problem solving and critical
thinking; alongside the need for proactive global citizenship. Each
child has
unique learning needs and unique entitlements. We address these needs
through a
broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, where health, happiness,
achievement,
compassion and engagement are our core strands. Our Values based
curriculum
enables all children to thrive and achieve in a well ordered, calm,
innovative
and challenging learning environment. We know what we want our children
to
achieve, and we work hard to ensure all children, teachers, parents,
carers and
managers know their role in supporting these ambitions. We are a school
where
challenge is continuous and achievement is paramount. In all we do, we
seek to
make our best even better!
This
statement was agreed by staff,
governors and parents in 2007.
The
purpose of
the school is to provide learning and teaching which responds to the
unique
educational needs of each child irrespective of race and creed.
Our
values
help ensure a calm, happy and purposeful working atmosphere is fostered
within
a caring community. An active partnership is encouraged between
children,
parents, carers, governors and staff. High standards are promoted by
expecting
pupils to work hard and persevere in all areas of the curriculum.
We
believe
that your child should:
- be
participant in the planning, delivery and review of a broad and
balanced curriculum.
- develop
lively, enquiring minds, the ability to question and argue rationally
and apply themselves to tasks and physical skills.
- acquire
understanding, knowledge and skills relevant to adult life and
employment in a fast changing world.
- use
language and numbers effectively.
- develop
aesthetic awareness and creativity.
- develop
personal moral and spiritual values, respect for religious values,
understanding of other races, religions and ways of life.
- understand
themselves and the world in which they live, including the
inter-dependence of individuals, groups and nations.
- understand
the importance of developing good interpersonal relationships and
quality for all.
- develop
independence and an increasing responsibility for their own learning,
appreciate the value of self motivation and sustained effort.
- be
encouraged in all their achievements and aspirations and appreciate the
achievements of others in the wider world.
- develop
a caring attitude to the environment.
- develop
a sense of self worth so that they can achieve personal fulfilment at
each stage of their development.
- be
active participants in the assessment and evaluation of their own
progress.
