It’s official! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that, following a full inspection on 24th and 25th September, West Kidlington Primary & Nursery School has received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted!
The results make for proud reading. Ofsted rated personal development at our school as ‘outstanding’, while we received ‘good’ ratings in all other categories, which include:
- Overall Effectiveness
- The Quality of Education
- Behaviour and Attitudes
- Leadership and Management
- Early Years Provision
Throughout the report, our school has been praised by inspectors for providing an excellent environment for our pupils to learn and give their best. Some of the standout comments include:
“Pupils thrive at the school because it is extremely caring and nurturing. They benefit from the huge range of inspirational experiences the school provides.”
“Pupils live and breathe the school’s values. They are proud when they receive rewards for putting them into action. Pupils treat each other, and staff, kindly. They fully embrace the school’s motto, ‘be kind, give your best’.”
“The school is well led. Leaders have high ambitions for all pupils and make sure that they get off to a flying start.”
“The multi-academy trust (MAT) supports leaders well in developing the curriculum.”
Previously, in December 2015, Ofsted had graded our school ‘inadequate’. In September 2016, West Kidlington began working with The White Horse Federation and appointed Simon Isherwood to be the school’s new principal. Later that academic year, we officially joined the federation, and their support has been integral to our progress ever since.
Charlotte Christie, Chair of Governors of West Kidlington, said: “On behalf of the LGB (local governing body), I wanted to say that this has been a success story for The White Horse Federation. From the start the federation has delivered a high level of support in every area through the central team to build capacity within the school to reach the very high level it has been judged in this report.”
“The initial cooperation with the local authority to deliver a much-improved school environment contributed to a good start. Then the appointment of new staff and the support for existing staff to grow and develop has enabled the school leaders to build a strong and effective school team which has created a school of which we can be really proud.”
West Kidlington is the first school within The White Horse Federation to be inspected under the new Ofsted inspection framework, and we are delighted to have been rewarded for the progress we continue to make throughout the school.
This improved Ofsted grade is a step in the right direction, and we remain fiercely committed to making continuing improvements at West Kidlington Primary & Nursery School.
We’d like to thank all our staff, pupils, their families, and members of the school community for their help and commitment. This achievement was made possible by your unwavering support.
