Welcome to West Kidlington Primary & Nursery School

I would like to welcome you to West Kidlington Primary and Nursery School.

Please do take the time to look at our website; it will give you an insight into life at West Kidlington Primary and Nursery School. I would strongly encourage that you organise a visit to the school. The feeling you get when you are in the building is very special. The children thrive in the school. Our main expectations for the children, staff, and families is very simple - be kind and give your best. If these two simple things are followed, children will be happy and successful.

Results and Progress:

The school's continued efforts are now being reflected in consistent outcomes and our 2025 Summer Ofsted report reflected this. Our overall rating of Good was thoroughly deserved. Our Outstanding rating in personal development is something the whole school community is immensely proud of. We are clear about the next steps the school needs to make. We are hungry to continue to improve and make the school even better. We are building on the one Ofsted recommendation and continue to assess where and how we can develop.

We have overseen major changes to our curriculum and approaches to teaching and learning - here we are continuously reflecting on our ability to provide quality feedback, ask incisive questions, and model to a very high standard. Our subject leaders within the school have a clear vision for each subject and we are working hard to enhance the offer in each subject. We recognise how important non-core subject teaching is and how it supports Maths, English and Science.

Any prospective new parent is encouraged to get in touch, and we will make a personal appointment with you for a guided tour. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions, see the environment, look inside the classrooms and find out about the school and our approach to learning.

Our core value is - Be Kind, Give Your Best

Our School Improvement Areas for 2025/2026 include:

  • Ensure that learning activities match the curriculum ambition and that teachers are supported in designing activities which help all pupils to learn the intended curriculum

  • Introduce the Kindness Curriculum – success for children will be defined by who they are, not what they do. A child-led curriculum and shared language

  • Increase the extended curriculum and strengthening long term memory, providing after school clubs in Problem solving, Lego Resilience, Mindfulness, Computing, Drawing and Homework club.

  • Develop the effectiveness of Talk Partners and enhance spoken language in school

  • Provide resilience guidance for children

  • Reduce the number of children and PP children who are recorded as being persistently absent. Find solutions and ways forward for each child on an individual basis.

  • Provide children with knowledge about what their next steps/targets are in an effort to quickly improve outcomes

  • Provide children with experiences and knowledge to be able to be aware of what life may be like beyond Primary School

  • Develop Music across the school, please refer to our revised development plan.

We hope to welcome you to West Kidlington Primary and Nursery School very soon.
