I would like to welcome you to West Kidlington Primary and Nursery School.
Please do take the time to look at our website; it will give you an insight into life at West Kidlington Primary and Nursery School. I would strongly encourage that you organise a visit to the school. The feeling you get when you are in the building is very special. The children thrive in the school.
Our main expectations for the children, staff, and families is very simple — be kind and give your best. If these two simple things are followed, children will be happy and successful.
Result and Progress
The school’s effort over the last three years is now being reflected in significantly improved outcomes and our recent Ofsted report reflects this. Our overall rating of Good was thoroughly deserved. Our Outstanding rating in personal development is something the whole school community is immensely proud of. We are clear about the next steps the school needs to make. We are hungry to continue to improve and make the school even better.
We have overseen major changes to our curriculum and approaches to teaching and learning – here we are continuously reflecting on our ability to provide quality feedback, ask incisive questions, and model to a very high standard.
Our school building has been updated and provides a progressive feel to moving through the school. Our new outdoor area is a great feature in our two reception classrooms and our state-of-the-art upper-key stage 2 building provides children with a grown-up education.
West Kidlington school has worked with the White Horse Federation to ensure that our school is as safe as possible during the pandemic for our children, our families and our staff. We have put in place extensive arrangements including class ‘bubbles’, hourly handwashing and enhanced cleaning regimes, clear arrangements for start and end of the day to enable social distancing during drop-off and collection, and much more. There is more information about this in the ‘for parents’ tab.
Any prospective new parent is encouraged to get in touch, and we will make a personal appointment with you for a guided tour around the outside of building. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions, see the environment, look inside the classrooms and find out about the school and our approach to learning. The school cannot offer tours inside the school buildings while Covid restrictions are in place for the safety of our children and staff.
We want our children to be so motivated and inspired that they create their own personal learning when they arrive home. When families ask what they learned today, we want children to be highly engaged in conversation.
